Â Illustrated with a portrait frontispiece of the author. A brilliant historical fiction novel by John Cowper Powys, set during a week in autumn during the Dark Ages, in the year 499 AD. The novel follows Porius, who is heir to the throne of Edeyrnion in North Wales, as the Saxons try to claim his land. Powys considered this to be his magnum opus, though he was forced to excise more than 500 pages for this edition. An unedited version was eventually published in 2007. In the original publisher's half crushed morocco binding with cloth to the boards, bound by George Bayntun. Externally, fine. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean. Fine.
