I ordered this book knowing that it might be like the original black and white one that had appeared online by someone who pirated it and offered it as a download. But when I got this one I felt the older one was more helpful but this one has lots of colored pictures and a cleaner look over all. Maybe I just like the sloppy hand drawn illustrations of the first edition and don't feel all the color illustrations add that much. All in all Birmingham is a must have for the pop up card maker. I have gained a lot from his books and would have like to have know of them before this. If you can afford them get both editions. Each one has a benefit but one is all you need. But his first book is far to expensive. They claim to be planning a reprinting of the first one but nothing so far.
