Seller's Description:
Very Good. 1832. First thus. Beautifully illustrated by the author. Decorative buckram (possibly re-backed), royal octavos. Portrait, engraved half-title, [6] xxiv 198 pp. + 35 plates; 207 pp. + 49 plates. Collated and complete, though some plates at locations other than listed. Three plates in full color, rest in b&w. Illustrated in 30 vignettes. Sparse foxing to many pages and plates, per usual. Cloth is sunned at spine though gilt stamp title is still bright. Corners lightly bumped, with slight fraying, and three small bumps to foredge of front board of volume one and rear board of volume two. Overall, very good; many of Gell's meticulous engravings are still bright and all are still striking, and the decorative buckram is quite interesting as an artifact of early decorative binder's cloth if original.
