(Mt) A biography of General John Burgoyne(1722-1792) primarily covering his service during the AmericanRevolution. With much about his expedition from Canada to the Americancolonies in 1777 resulting in the British debacle at Saratoga. Twodetailed maps are included of Battles of Bemis Heights and Saratoga. Thefrontis is a portrait of Burgoyne by Ramsey (1750). Interestingly, thefour-page facsimile letter is by George Washington. The author creditsBurgoyne's granddaughters for instigating the writing of the biography.
