Die Beitragerinnen und Beitrager dieses Bandes eruieren aus latinistischer, romanistischer und anglistischer Perspektive charakteristische Formen und Funktionen polemischer Renaissancedialoge und zeichnen anhand prototypischer Beispiele ihre wesentliche Entwicklungslinien im Zeitraum zwischen 1350 und 1650 nach. Als wichtige Analysekategorien erweisen sich dabei das Verhaltnis von Fiktionalitat und Realitat, von Oralitat und Literaritat, die Adressierung verschiedener Offentlichkeiten und die zugrundeliegende Kommunikationssituation.
