As a well deserved break following their previous adventures in France and Austria, The colonel allows the two agents to enjoy a short vacation in the Canary Island of Tenerife, with their girl friends, Janet and Gwen. However, what he really wants is for them to check up on Beckmann, who is still in jail there, and the vulnerability of his location. This they do, with unforeseen consequences when on their last day they take an Auto-Jeep vacation tour up to the volcanic craters area of the island. It turns out to be more dangerous than they could ever have expected. On their return to VPHQ near London, Horace is subjected to a series of tests, designed by Professor Freeman and the colonel, to discover the limits of his ability to activate the nanotronic beam weapons, and investigate what really happened to cause the death of the large terrorist back in Austria as described in Book 2 of the PoV series.. A couple of days later, the colonel arranges for the whole team, including the professor and Sergeant Daniels to fly to America and meet up in the CIA headquarters outside Washington, with local agents, Chuck Crandle and his assistant, Sally Blake. They also meet Jack Bellamy the CIA chief who was an old military academy training companion of the colonel. Later, following a spectacular kidnapping operation, Horace and Harry Jenkins are forcibly taken to the Buckman Robotics company's laboratories, where they meet Benito Bronsky, the company Security Chief and some other executives, including Buckmann himself, the owner of the whole operation. He describes some of the robots he is manufacturing, and outlines his plans to replicate Horace???s eyes for use in his new battle robots. Buckman's Chief Scientist, Dr. Falco, introduces them his latest creation an AGI robot, which upon activation becomes intelligently aware of the nanophytes in Horace's eyes, resulting in an exciting series of events that cause the two young agents to eventually escape from their kidnappers. The resourceful Colonel Barker of VPHQ, arranges a fast return of the team back to the UK, together with the friendly robot, now firmly bonded to Horace. A few days later, the team embark on a naval vessel to Tenerife, and commence the colonel???s planned operation to extract Beckman from jail and bring him to VPHQ, using Horace's eyes and Robbo's strength. However, Buckman and Bronsky arrive by helicopter with their own plan to rescue Beckmann, assisted by another of Dr. Falco???s creations. The resulting conflict includes more plot twists and turns, with an exciting conclusion to the mission. During the whole series of adventures covered in this volume, Horace's dreams continue and become influenced by his experiences, plus his continuing guilty state of mind over the death of the big terrorist in Austria featured in Book 2 of the series..
