With an Introduction--Poetry of a New Heaven and Earth by Grace Schulman. With a translator's preface by Steven F. White. This anthology is an excellent selection of 20th century Nicaraguan poets. Pablo Antonio Cuadra, Ernesto Cardenal and Alfonso Cortes were introduced to English speakers by Thomas Merton, when Cardenal was a novitiate at the Abbey of Gethsemani in Kentucky. Other poets include Salomen de la Selva, Jose Coronel Urtecho, Joaquin Pasos, Juan Francisco Gutierrez, Ernesto Mejia Sanchez, Carlos Martinez Rivas, Ernesto Gutierrez, Francisco Valle, --one woman Ana Ilce and Alvaro Urtecho. The book is in fine condition; the dust jacket is near fine--very clean, white.
