Non voglio ad ogni modo tacere che a condurlo a termine mi furono efficace eccitamento i discorsi nostri durante le solitarie passeg giate romane (dolce n'??? la memoria), quando lamentavamo insieme come non ultima cagione dello scadimento cui e ve nuta oggidi l'arte dello scrivere, anzi quella dell' insegnare a scrivere italianamente, la noncuranza che molti ostentano per i grandissimi nostri scrittori delle et???. Pi??? vicine a - noi. Il nostro pensiero ricorreva spesso all'alfieri, del quale l'arte nobilissima e il sentimento altamente civile non val gono ormai pi??? a destare alcun durevole entusiasmo nelle anime irrigidite dei giovani; al Monti, . Di cui e gran cosa se gli imberbi censori si degnano ripetere la storiella del li abate, del cittadino, del cavaliere; al Leopardi, il quale con la comoda scusa dell' incomodo pessimismo ???, si pu??? dir, bandito dalle nostre scuole; e anche al Foscolo, che si viva luce di pensiero e di forma diffuse per tutti i suoi scritti, anche nelle minime cose e quasi improvvise.
