An author's presentation copy of the very scarce first edition of this volume of poetry from English man of letters, bibliophile and poet Frederick Locker-Lampson. One of only one hundred copies printed. Loosely inserted is a small card bearing the name and address of the author, bearing the handwritten message 'I hope Wilfrid's side has won! Do not acknowledge the book, I will call you again'. Illustrated with a frontispiece from George Cruikshank, and engraved head and tail pieces. With ten leaves of contemporary reviews of the author's works to the rear, as called for. The first line of the third stanza of page 95 reads 'One hundred years, like one short week'. The second issue. A very scarce work from a prominent nineteenth century literary figure. In a quarter morocco binding, with cloth covered boards. Rubbing to joints and back strip, resulting in losses to the leather. Loosely inserted slip from the author. Contemporary reviews to rear. Internally, firmly bound. Light tidemarks to first few leaves, with pages otherwise clean and bright. Very Good.
