Like its predecessor volumes in the Platinum Reggae series, this is an excellent collection of up-to-the-minute modern roots and dancehall tracks from artists in the Artists Only stable; most of the songs here have not been previously released, though some are culled from albums. The lineup is, for the most part, a crew of the usual suspects, most of them from the conscious dancehall school: Beenie Man, Capleton, Anthony B., Sizzla, and Yami Bolo all make an appearance, and there's even a contribution from old-school icon Al Campbell, who weighs in with the nicely rootsy "Ease Off" (you can barely tell that the trombone is a synthesizer). Other highlights include a very fine combination track featuring Anthony B. and Robert French ("My Story"), Tony Curtis' smooth and gospel-flavored "My God Is Real," and the rawboned "Red Eye" by Cobra. Fans of dancehall and modern roots reggae will both find plenty to enjoy on this collection. ~ Rick Anderson, Rovi
