Their collaborations eventually culminated in the album Brookland/Oaklyn, and Plane That Draws a White Line is an odds-and-sods EP compilation is made up of tracks from that album along with remixes, outtakes, and alternate versions. Tarsier's vocals are chilly, clean, and lovely throughout, but the musical settings vary wildly. The title track is pretty and rather cold, with an unsettled rhythm, whereas "Nocturnal Eye" is dark and arrhythmic until a harsh breakbeat kicks in about halfway through. "9:24 Cigarette" is dreamy and ambient even when the beat comes in, while the Boom-Bip remix of "Plane That Draws a White Line" brings in a rather martial-sounding beat and "Ligaya (Odd Nosdam Remix)" brings in a strong dub influence. Only the static and boring trip-hop of "5 Year Eve (Neurotropic Remix)" fails to generate real heat. Highly recommended overall. ~ Rick Anderson, Rovi
