Frightening Premise
An amazing book: easily one of my favourites this year. It's a suspenseful thriller about bioterrorism. A man with a decades-old vendetta against the U.S. for dropping the bomb on Japan, plans to rain down plague-laden fleas onto new Yorkers as they watch the fireworks on the 4th of July.
A Chinese man is also hunting the terrorist and teams up with the FBI to find him. There are charcters with complex issues. Mr. Li has a wry sense of humour that made me smile.
Right near the end of the story, there was a defect in my copy of the book, and the ending was missing. It was right when the two men face each other. I wrote to the publisher, Thomas Nelson, and they graciously sent me another copy, which I appreciated. However, the delay of two weeks did affect the momentum of the story. It was my first time reading this author, but it won't be my last. He's amazing. This book won the Christy Award for best CBA suspense novel of 2007.
