Frank Kingdon-Ward (1885-1958) made his first plant-collecting journey into the wilds of eastern Asia in 1911, returning from his last journey in 1957. His work as a collector of seeds for gardens and specimens for botanical institutions spanned forty-five years and found him travelling throughout north Burma, Assam, western China and south-east Tibet. This is his own vivid account of his expeditions.
