Decent book if you're only buying one
Performance Rock Climbing deals with not just the technique of climbing, but dives into training for strength and endurance, the physiology of muscle development, cycles of progression, mental strategies, etc. It's all covered thoroughly.
The only beef I have with the book is that it's a little dated (1993) and it shows. Technique and training haven't changed that much, but it's kind of a hard read. Print is small, and chapters feel long and detailed. There are better books for beginners, and better books for intermediates looking to move from 5.10 on up, but this is a pretty good coverall if you can stand reading it.
