Seller's Description:
Not Stated. Very Good. An early US printing of English writer and garden designer Vita Sackville-West's biography of her grandmother, Pepita. A later impression of the first US edition of Vita Sackville-West's biography of her grandmother, Pepita de Oliva. Published in the same year as the first US edition, first impression, but without the words 'first edition' appearing to the verso of the title page. Pepita was a Romani Spanish dancer, who popularised Spanish flamenco dancing whilst performing across Europe. Despite an official marriage, Pepita had a long partnership with Lionel Sackville-West, with whom she had five children. Illustrated with a portrait frontispiece. Perhaps the best known work from Bloomsbury Group figure, garden designer and writer Vita Sackville-West, well known today for her relationship with Virginia Woolf, and for providing the inspiration for Woolf's beloved novel 'Orlando'. Â With the illustrated bookplate of Sydney R. Skelton to the front pastedown. In the publisher's original cloth binding. Fading and shelf wear to back strip tail. With discolouration and light spotting to board perimeters. Illustrated bookplate to front pastedown. Internally, firmly bound. Pages clean and bright. Very Good.
