A wonderful collection of poetry - and a few pieces of prose - from all over the world. Pennine Ink Writers was set up in 1983 and shortly after that published their first anthology. Boy, has it moved on from those first humble beginnings. We now have contributors from all over the world. A lovely book to dip into and read on the bus, in the dentist's waiting room or anywhere where you need a bit of a lift to brighten your day. Give it a try. PENNINE INK WRITERS' WORKSHOP Pennine Ink Writers' Workshop was established in 1983. The group meets every Monday evening from 8pm-10 pm at the Woodman Inn, Todmorden Road, Burnley. Their programme is stimulating and varied and includes workshops on articles, short stories, poetry and plays. Although they enjoy their meetings immensely, they also see them as a way of improving their literary skills and welcome constructive criticism from other members. Every year they bring out a new issue of Pennine Ink Magazine, which contains poetry and prose from all over the world. At present, they have around 15 members. They have a close association with Mid Pennine Arts and have twice judged the Kicking Leaves children's poetry competition. A few years ago, they were lucky enough to spend a day with Jackie Kay. Lines from the resulting poems have been inscribed on a handrail in Grove Lane Park, Padiham, and a sculpture about their work with Jackie Kay stands in Towneley Park, Burnley. They were delighted to win second prize in the National Association of Writers' Groups Anthology Competition a few of years ago. Individuals in the group have had various successes. Most members have had their work published.
