Peggy Eaton (Margaret O'Neale Eaton (1799-1879) was the daughter of the owner of Franklin House, a popular Washington, D.C. hotel, and noted for her beauty, wit and vivacity. Her marriage to Secretary of War John Henry Eaton shortly after her first husband's death caused the "Petticoat scandal" that disrupted Andrew Jackson's cabinet.
