Mit einst 65 Millionen Kunden und basierend auf einer P2P-Architektur machte Napster den Begriff im Jahr 2000 popul???r. Der Transfer von Dateien ???ber das Internet (File-Sharing) stellt jedoch nur ein Anwendungsgebiet von P2P dar. Daneben existieren weitere Anwendungsbereiche, wie beispielsweise Instant-Messaging, GRID-Computing und P2P-Collaboration. Diese Arbeit gibt einen allgemeinen ???berblick ???ber das Thema P2P. Neben dem P2P-Konzept und dem Aufbau eines P2P-Netzes werden Anwendungsbereiche von P2P-Systemen vorgestellt. Eine Auflistung und Beschreibung bestehender L???sungen sowie aktueller Entwicklungen soll die Vor- und Nachteile von P2P-Netzen aufzeigen. Dazu wird zun???chst eine Definition des Begriff gegeben und das P2P-Konzeptes vorgestellt. Anschlie???end wird der Aufbau eines P2P-Systems anhand der Architekturparameter Strukturiertheit, Hierarchiegrad und Kopplungsgrad beschrieben. Darauf aufbauend werden die P2P-Anwendungsbereiche File-Sharing, Instant-Messaging, GRID-Computing und P2P-Collaboration n???her betrachtet, wobei das Konzept jedes Anwendungsbereiches erl???utert und die wichtigsten Vertreter vorgestellt werden.
