When is a picture book story book for adults as well as children? That's a great question which this book partly answers. The tale of the artist as hero. Lovely illustrations that suggested to me a Dutch or Danish setting and a Hans Christian Andersen-type situation. Really beautiful as are all the books produced by this illustrator---who also illustrated The Friend, which I loved, and Company's Coming/Company's Going.
