President Carter, who was able to negotiate peace between Israel and Egypt, has remained deeply involved in Middle East affairs since leaving the White House. He has stayed in touch with the major players from all sides in the conflict and has made numerous trips to the Holy Land, most recently as an observer in the Palestinian elections of 2006. In this book President Carter shares his intimate knowledge of the history of the Middle East and his personal experiences of the principal actors, and he addresses sensitive political issues many British and American officials shy from. PALESTINE is a challenging and provocative book. Pulling no punches, Carter prescribes steps that must be taken for the two states to share the Holy Land without a system of apartheid or the constant fear of terrorism.

Carter, as always, is not afraid of the truth. Respect for Palestinian rights are, and always have been, *the* key to resolving our "war" on Islamic terror. Any one who wonders why peace in the Middle East, as well as in our more general relationships with the Islamic world, has proven so hard to achieve, should read this book. President Carter received a lot of criticism when this book came out, but - in my view - the harshness of the criticism is a true measure of how close to the mark he came. It's time the horrors of the Holocaust ceased to be the trump card that overrules fairness, justice and peace. Two wrongs, as the saying goes, do not make a right.

Excellent reading especially for those with little background on the Palestinian Israeli conflict. In my view this book is non bias and fair to both parties. Must read.

Finally... the Truth!
This is the book organizations like AIPAC... DO NOT want you to read! An in depth look at the history of Palestine and the Palestinians peoples conflict with its Israeli occupiers. Grim, harrowing but brutally honest. Our nations greatest elder statesman takes us where few other credible, unbiased and unabashed writers have ever had the "chutzpah" to do so. There's a reason the cries of "anti-semitism" followed the release of this volume as truth will always bring the same from any peoples whom would disavow anyone who dare speak, dare we say... the TRUTH!
