KInzey's works on various aircraft remain some of the best that have ever been done, whether you are an aircraft enthusiast or a scale modeler with an eye for detail. This work on the P-39 is no exception.

Bell P-39 Airacobra
Bert Kinsey has a long and solid reputation as a the author of Scale & Detail booklets. This one on the Airacobra is an excellent example. The 79 page booklet covers all the models of the Airacobra and also the P-63 Kingcobra, Bell's answer to critics of the Airacobra. And there were some faults: lack of a supercharger, weight problems, and as a result, not quite enough wing. Poor performance of the 37mm cannon was also a problem. Bert tells it all: the good, and the bad. The photographs are great; both black and white, and color. Lots of color. The 1/72 scale three view drawings by Lloyd S. Jones are true scale, and very accurate. There is also a section for modelers, which I appreciated, as I am now designing a RC 1/4 scale model of the Airacobra . (The reason that I purchased the booklet!) It's like getting two booklets. One on the P-39, and one on the P-63. Good bargain!
