Seller's Description:
Near Fine in Very Good+ jacket. 4to-over 9¾"-12" tall. 228pp, 200 b&w photos, 2 maps (Champagne Front--Aisne-Marne-&-St. Mihiel Front Sept. 1918) at rear. This is comprehensive and exhaustive study detailing the biographies of the United States Air Service and the French Air Service during World War I. Introductory notes provide, in the majority of cases, place and date of birth, previous military service, decorations and post war career. Whenever possible the citations received are transcribed in full. The most extraordinary achievement of the authors is in their 24-year research into the claims of the pilots. In every case the biographies include a full list of all claims made, by date, time and location, together with type of aircraft flown and a note on the authors' sources. Where victories are shared, details are given in the other pilots involved. Clean.
