Truly an outstanding work. Perhaps, to garner an even deeper appreciation, first read the author's 'Acknowledgment' at the end of the work. I've a determination to read other books on the subject and move to learning of Chicago's Children's Home and Aid Society.

US history
A well-written account of a bit of little-known history of our country. Good read.
