So sei der Blick der europ???isch-westlichen Gesellschaften auf Gesellschaften des Nahen Osten eurozentrisch und von Gef???hlen der ???berlegenheit sowie von Herrschaftswillen gepr???gt. Der Westen, der sich selbst als aufgekl???rt empfindet, sieht den Orient dagegen als irrational, mysteri???s und unaufgekl???rt an, assoziiert diesen aber auch mit sexueller Lust und Sinnlichkeit und tendiert zudem oftmals dazu, den Orient romantisch zu verkl???ren. Auch in Caroline Pichlers Novelle Zuleima lassen sich Elemente auffinden, die den Orientalismus-Thesen Saids entsprechen: So wird der Orient unter anderem als besonders sinnlich und leidenschaftlich, jedoch in gewisser Weise auch als gef???hrlich dargestellt, au???erdem erfolgt an einigen Textstellen eine romantische Verkl???rung desselben. Jedoch scheint die Novelle nicht durchg???ngig orientalistische Deutungsmuster zu beinhalten, da beispielsweise bestimmte Komponenten nicht dem von Edward Said beschriebenen Verh???ltnis zwischen Herrscher und Beherrschten entsprechen. Aus diesem Grunde geht die nachfolgende Hausarbeit der Frage nach, ob es sich bei dem Werk Caroline Pichlers nach Saids Thesen um einen orientalistischen Text handelt, beziehungsweise wo und warum in diesem orientalistische Deutungsmuster vorliegen (k???nnten).
