Chapter 194, Laws of 1917, doubles the fees formerly collected under the motor vehicle law, and this revenue, minus cost of operation of motor vehicle department, is turned over to the highway commission for expenditure. Chapter 175, Laws of 1917, makes available during the next five years, by the issuing of bonds, amounts necessary to match funds provided by the Shackelford law, to the amount of $1,180,310.55. Chapter 423, Laws of 1917. provides for the issuing of $6,000,000.00 in bonds for the hard surfacing and preparing for hard surface of certain highways in the state as designated by the act. This act was ratified by a vote of the people at an election held June 4, 1917. The regular monthly meeting day of the commission is the first Tuesday after the first Saturday in each month.
