I was especially taken with Tyler; he is strong, loving, and full of surprises. He is the perfect addition to this book of mixed genres.

Operation Jade Helmet is a thrilling and terrifying book that can give you nightmares. What makes it scarier is that the reader can relate to most of the things happening within this complex story. We see the world ravaged by global warming, the emergence of revolts worldwide, and racial tensions at an all-time high. All these events lead to an end of times event, which shall change the world as we all know it.
This suspenseful novel has a religious undertone that adds color and dimension to the storyline and flows naturally within the context of the plot. One character that young adults and teens will identify with is Brandon because he uses a lot of technical jargon and utilizes the digital world that many teens are drawn to. This thrilling novel also has an element of redemption, as we see many characters set aside their evil selves and embrace good.
There is also a considerable element of surprise and shock within the story. The reader can never know what to expect, as the deaths of significant characters and the reemergence of apparently dead ones can occur instantaneously. Nevertheless, the reader is kept hooked until the end, as various schemes, backstories, and family histories are revealed periodically.
Author Ashley Fontainne has written a thoroughly enjoyable sci-fi novel. It is one that almost all age groups can relate to. Especially today�s generation which has faced the Covid-19 pandemic and inherited the issue of global warming from previous generations. Her writing style and pacing engage the readers, allowing them to be in the moment with the characters. However, I felt that Carmen and Jacob don�t get as much of the spotlight as they deserve.
