Add this copy of Oona, Living in the Shadows: a Biography of Oona O to cart. $10.53, good condition, Sold by Booketeria rated 3.0 out of 5 stars, ships from San Antonio, TX, UNITED STATES, published 1998 by Grand Central Publishers.
Oona's troubled relationship with her father, the playwright Eugene O'Neil, formed a personality that would engage and haunt the friends--and the husband--with whom she sought and found the love her father had denied her. Her long, dependent marriage to the much older Charlie Chaplin wrote the drama of her existence, and his death marked her descent into alcoholism. This biography draws one into the love and the tragedy of an exquisitely beautiful woman finding in another man the stability her gifted but erratic father could not provide for her. She becomes to the reader a dearly loved friend, and though one is infinitely glad to see her agony come to an end, one is left with the ache of losing her presence in one's life.
