This aroused the wrath of Hooke, who accused Oldenburg of having divulged the discovery in his correspondence with Huygens. Hooke enlisted the interest of Charles II and in a lecture, entitled Potentia Restitutiva, &c., said, His Majesty was pleased to see the experiment that made out this theory tried at Whitehall, as also my spring watch.
