In this part of the work, I have in tmduced several of the analytical investigations of Laplace and other writers on the subject; as the developement of v and r in terms of 1; (art. 82 the curious theorems of Lambert concerning the ellipse and parabola, which are of use in the problem of the orbit of a comet; (art.36 and and Pontecoulant's elegant integration of the aqua.
