Love the characters. Great series of light reading. Great recipes also.

As the first book in the Coffeehouse Series, it was a very good start. I immensely enjoyed this novel (and the ones following). It was a fun read and had great tips on making and storing coffee. Great if you really like coffee, though it will make you crave it!

Rather bland coffee
I realize this was the first in the series, but what got me annoyed more than anything was the harping on how to "correctly" do a pot/cup of coffee. Yeah. Picky. But I'm already a coffee snoot and don't need the lessons. Pick # 2 was the Blue Mountain coffee. From her description it came right from the brochure. I doubt she's had it. It is not THAT good.
As for the book itself, the mystery was rather lacking. More an O'Henry than a mystery. Some laughable moments during the later investigation (if you can call it that) but not really a memorable book.

Review of "On What Grounds"
?On What Grounds? is the first book in the Coffeehouse mystery series featuring female-sleuth Clare Cosi. She is the manager of famed Greenwich Village coffeehouse, The Village Blend. The mystery in this book revolves around Clare finding the body of her young employee, Anabelle, at the bottom of the stairs. The police rule it an accident but Clare believes Anabelle was pushed.
There are a lot of interesting things going on in this well-written book, including info on coffee storage, roasting and brewing. I liked it and will be reading more in the series.

Good Coffee and Crime
Good read, engaging characters in the great city of NY. The start was a little too clever but worth it. You can smell the coffee and you will appreciate really good coffee after the details of making it. Happy reading and make sure you have a cup of Java close by.
