Because this book was written many years ago, it includes a lot of stories that may or may not help your golf game. I have read in more than one place that Ben Hogan carried this book around with him for many years and often referred to it. Boomer's concepts definitely appear in Hogan's "Five Lessons." The outstanding part of this book is Boomer's emphasis on how a good swing should feel rather than look, so it is excellent for self-learning. After reading Boomer, I was able to go to the range, combine Boomer's feel with Hogan's basics on setup, etc., and produce a powerful and consistent ball flight. Definitely a valuable addition to learning the game on your own.
