Seller's Description:
Very Good. No Dust Jacket. 12mo-over 6¾"-7¾" tall. 345pp. Original brown cloth; slightly edge worn, top rear joint starting, else very good. 4 leaves starting to loosen, occasional minor foxing, else contents very good. A few text illus. Early owner's name penciled on top title page. Small sticker removed from ffep. Southern Indian fairy tales.
The book is a collection of popular fairy legends as the title says narrated by an Ayah to a British family in the mid 1800s. Many of the stories I had heard before in my childhood. They are charming and timeless. I urge the reader not to omit the "Narrator's Narrative", which gives a very vivid idea of life in India of the mid 1800s.
