Abu Yazid asked him and the man said, "I have read in some writings that when God wants to take a lover, He snatches away the heart, and abandons him in fear and nostalgia, in order that he be illuminated. Once purified, God makes him feel love for Him and He loves him in return. In these words, he found the answer to his suffering.
