Acceptable. Chicago: A.C. McClurg & Co., 1890. First US edition. 12mo vellum hardcover with red titling to front board and spine, and gilt Greek silhouette to front board. TEG and deckled edges. [xxvii]+208pp. Greek and English. Near good book. Vellum foxed and stained and seems to have shrunk slightly, causing the boards to bow slightly. Spine head slightly erose, and about an inch of vellum lost at foot of spine, with thin strip of loss along bottom fore-corners of each board. Silverfishing to exposed spine foot and to edges of boards. A few small dark spots near bottom of rear board. Foxing to endpages. Hinge paper starting. Spine thinly cracked. Early owner's name inked to front endpaper, "Edward S. Hoar 1890, " possibly Edward Sherman Hoar, an intimate and possible lover of Henry David Thoreau.
