Excerpt from Notable Recent Accessions Exhibited During the Month of January 1930 The Museum is exhibiting in Gallery VI for the month of january its important accessions. Most of the works of art recently acquired have been brought together at this time so that the members of the Museum and the people of Toledo may easily see the advance which has been made in the development of the permanent collections. Some of the notable additions which have already been permanently installed are left in their proper setting, but are included in this catalogue and may easily be found in the other galleries of the Museum. The Art Committee has established very high standards for the admission of works of art to the Museum, whether acquired by purchase or by gift. It is the hope of the Museum to eventually be able to show the evolution of art from pre historic days to our own times. To do this it is not felt necessary to venture into every bypath nor to exhibit all of the myriad variants of a single theme. Rather it is hoped to follow the main stream of art and to restrict our collections to master pieces rather than mere examples. Such a procedure, it is hoped, will prevent over crowding and will give the student and the casual visitor an opportunity to profit from the study and the enjoyment of the master works of artists and artisans, undisturbed by the mediocre and inferior.
