great book about a great train
This book is a fitting tribute to a remarkable, unique, and beautiful train. It is beautiful designed and executed on highest quality paper.
The train was perfect: a streamlined Class J steam locomotive at the head end (certainly one of the most beautiful locomotives ever built, and one of the last in regular service in the US; perfect new Pullman-Standard coaches and observation.
The train was remarkable considering that it traversed one of the most unpopulated routes in the country and, unfortunately, brought in little revenue for the proud N&W.
This is the definitive study of that great, lost train.
