Many of the performers are well-known -- Bessie Smith, Mississippi John Hurt, Big Bill Broonzy, Charley Patton, Memphis Minnie, Bukka White -- and several others are unknown to any but blues scholars (Jack Kelly, Homer Harris, Alfred Fields).
