Since the late sixties there has been an upsurge of interest in the neo-Pentecostal forms of worship, coupled with an increased concern over the depth of Christian fellowship. House Churches provide an ideal setting for new expressions of worship and a more intimate, totally committed fellowship. This book looks at the origins and early development of three types of House Churches; of these, the Harvestime Churches in particular have a distinct structure and an articulated sense of authority and have enjoyed a faster growth of membership. A description is given of life in the House Churches, which provides a complete alternative society, and certain case histories are reviewed of individuals whose lives have been transformed by their contact with that way of life. Finally, brief historical comparisons are made between the modern House Churches and the Early Methodists, Brethren and Pentecostals.
