Enter the invoice in the purchases journal. Number this invoice 8. Head your purchases journal the same as you did your sales journal, number the entries consecutively, and enter only the name of the creditor and the amount of the invoice. Write the entry number on the upper right-hand corner of the invoice. The separate entries in the purchases journal will not be posted, but the footing of the book will be posted at the end of the month. Post from the invoices directly to the accounts in the purchases ledger, in the daily posting, and place the folio of the account on each invoice to indicate that it has been credited.
