Find the hyperbolic logarithm of 37-64. First, 37-64 =-j7uTj therefore From hyp. log.-3764 = 8-23323750 Take hyp. log. 100 = 4-605 0 19 hyp. log. 37-54-3-62806731. And in the saine manner it is obvious, that we may always reduce the operation of finding the hyperbolic logarithm of a number, wholly or partly decimal, to that of finding the hyperbolic logarithm of a number wholly integral, and it will, therefore, be sufficient to consider the latter case only in the following examples. To find the Hyperbolic Logarithm of a Number consisting of more than four ligures. 36. Multiply or divide the number by such a power of 10 as will make it consist of four integers and decimals. Then find the logarithm of the integral part in the table, and multiply the difference between that logarithm and the next greater tabular added to the logarithm of the integral part will be the logarithm of the reduced number; to which again adding or subtracting the logarithm of that power of 10 by which the number was divided or multiplied, and the sum or remainder will be the logarithm sought. / It should be observed, that a logarithm found in this manner cannot always be depended upon in the last place, the difference in this system being more rapid than in the common system, in consequence of the radix being smaller. It will, therefore, be better, when great accuracy is required, to proceed...
