( Wahrscheinlich enthielt das Steinol sehr viel harzi;e Theile aufgelost, welche naturlich nach der Verdunstung des atherischen Oels zuruck bleiben mufsten). Libau (Singular, part. III. L. II c. XII. p. ao5.), welcher bekanntlich ebenfalls glaubte, dafs sich da- Succin aus Petroleum bilde, fand in einem Brunnen in Peru ein gelbes flussiges Oel, welches er Ambia nennt, und fur flussiges Succin hielt.--Dieses Petroleum scheint in der Folge nach Monard den Namen Ambice monardi erhalien zu haben, weil bereits Monard einige Nachrichten davon enteilte.
