The materials accumulated during my stay consisted of numerous specimens, illustrating nearly every branch of Natural History. Since my return, these have been placed in the hands of several naturalists for determination. In their various reports, which constitute a large portion of this volume, all that was previously known relating to the Natural History of these islands has been incorporated, thus bringing our knowledge of the subject, in a complete form, down to the present time.
