Seller's Description:
Good. No dust jacket as issued. Some minor undulation noted. iv, 495 p. 23 cm. Illustrations. One December 7, 1978 there was a disastrous fire at the National Archives film-vault at its Suitland, MD facility. Approximately 12.5 milion feet of film were destroyed, much of it outtakes from old newsreels--a unique reference collection. This loss was approximately half of what University Studios had donated to the Archives in 1970. The Committe explored the reasons that the vault builidng did not contain the December fire, and also the ability of the Archives to store the film it acquired. This is one of the rare Congressional appearances of Lillian Gish and also heard testimony from the famed George Stevens.
