I've been reading biographies of Napoleon since 2005 (the first one was 'Napoleon: a political biography' by Richard Englund and the next in line is 'Napoleon' by Andre Castelot) and this particular biography is the best I ever read so far.
It gives a well balanced portrait of Napoleon, the man, his many accomplishments (be warned: the guy was quite a thunderstorm even for the standards of the 21st century) and the historical context in which the first emperor of the french lived. After reading this book, I could understand clearly why Napoleon has been studied over and over again.
The text is clear, pleasant and quite entertaining. You can say you are transported straight to the time the actual events happened. When I finished, I wanted to explore more. In short, it's a great book, about a great man and a great entertainment.
