I liked this book more than I expected to, but it still wasn't great. I think it would have made more sense if I'd read the prequel, but it didn't depend on the backstory and the book overall didn't make me want to read the other one. It's a modern and very up-to-date book but can seem kind of dependant on that the reader is savvy with the current slang of Manhattan society. Some parts of it were a little confusing and others were a little dull, but it's not too hard to get into if you have the time to pay it proper attention.
