Seller's Description:
Good in Fair jacket. 4to-over 9¾-12" tall. 3rd Printing. Book has a 1.5" razor-type slit in front cover of book about half way down on the left side, slight water stain to endsheet and mild water wrinkle spot near outside edge to next four pages, otherwise vg. Dust jacket has a V shaped tear with crinkled center in the same vicinity as razor slit but on dust jacket and a fairly large light water stain on rear jacket panel in the bottom area of jacket and some scuffing and other light wear, overall jacket is fair to good with no chips. Stain does not affect the book, just the jacket. Two fold-out separate maps are laid in as issued.
For anyone intertested in the zenith of steam
railway operation in America, this book is vital.
The style, the photo quality and the content
generally are of a very high order.
As an engineer I found the descriptions of
heavy casting and machining methods
utterly enthralling; to think that, at one time,
this country was world-renowned for heavy
engineering and to see it now is hard to bear.
Seek this book out - as an American might say (and be right!) "Awesome". Uncle Mac.
