Seller's Description:
Very good, very good. 24 cm, 317, Introduction by Page Stegner. This book is a powerful memoir by a writer called one of America's best, and is the author's final book. In it he describes the great battles in his life: one against a tyrannical father, the other against anti-aircraft gunners over Germany in World War II. The book includes a brutal account of World War II air combat.
A well written, irreverent, witty, laugh-out-loud memoir of a unique place and time in the history of the USA, including its involvement in WWII. I will definitely look for other books by this author.
