I really enjoy diaries of all kinds and this book gave a wonderful insight into the private life of this famous actor and glimpses into the lives of his family and other in the profession. At times I felt he was a little patronizing towards his wife, but suppose he was a man of his times. Well worth reading, or listening to, especially for the over 50 age group.

Alec, my friend
Small book, with great fun reading; feel as if you know the man better. I wished he could have been my next-door neighbor. Sort of short, interesting diary-like biographical sketch of a very nice person (Saw him in a comedy role one night in London, didn't realize before that what a
multiple-talented person he was.) The little book lets you get a close-up look at him.
