My name is Lauren, and I'm a grateful, recovering alcoholic/addict. I was challenged to write this book, and I believe it was a wonderful idea. I hope it will help someone understand and see through a child's eye their alcoholic family member. There is love, and pain, loneliness, and a want to help. It was a joy to write this with my daughter. I really listened to her thoughts and ideas. I loved watching her draw the pictures. Some of them hurt to watch her draw. They brought back memories of how she felt, lonely, helpless, but the farther through the book I see the progression of happiness regained. The love was always there, but it now being shown again. I know not all those in addiction recover, but I am blessed to have found hope. It was a difficult book to write, but very well worth it. This may not be every addicts story, but it is ours.
