I really liked this book. It gave an amazing first hand look of being in Evin Prison, as well as growing up in Iran. I'd recommend this to anyone.

Arrests in Iran
Read a month or so before the news of the Iranian Election aftermath I was first horrified at the conditions people are put in and subjected to in the most infamous prison in Iran. If you want to find a similar state of affairs go back to the KGB era in the Soviet regime. The book cleverly weaves the real state of affairs in the prison with memories of the author's childhood and teenage years. This was at first annoying as I wanted to see how she would fare in the prison. But then I realised this biographical part is so essential to understanding my Iranian friends in UK; they grew up in the same era, under the same fears and limitations. This helps us understand the present climate of revolution against the electioneering manipulations. My only relief ... and the story was gripping... was that for the author she suffered there only one month; others are there for years. horrendous. It depends on why you choose the book to read as to what star rating it gets. I wanted to understand the Iranian nation that little bit more. It served its purpose. Thank you Zarah for being willing to share your story with the world.
